High Commissioner of Pakistan in UK, Dr. Mohammad Faisal,
who is also the Honorary President of Pakistan Society, hosted members of
Pakistan Society at the Pakistan High Commission in London.
Sir William Blackburne, Chairman; senior office bearers and a large number of
members of Pakistan Society were present.
While lauding the services of Pakistan Society for bringing Pakistanis together
and closer to the British, the High Commissioner, Dr. Mohammad Faisal said that
it was a unique and effective platform for promoting Pakistan’s culture, arts,
music and cuisines. He said that Pakistan Society’s role in highlighting
positive aspects of Pakistan in UK were commendable and there were further opportunities
to tap in the future.
The High Commissioner emphasized strengthening people-to-people contacts,
within the Pakistani diaspora residing in UK, in order to facilitate an
environment of cordiality and bonding. It was necessary to project a positive
image of Pakistan and Pakistan Society is the best forum for it, added the High
Commissioner.
Chairman Pakistan Society, Sir William Blackburne thanked the High Commissioner
and Pakistan High Commission for regularly hosting its members and maintaining
a strong liaison between Pakistan and UK.
The Pakistan Society was founded in 1951 and remains based in London. It is a
bilateral organisation with some five hundred members, most of whom are almost
equally divided between those of British and Pakistani origin. The Society aims
to increase public knowledge in Britain of the arts, history, geography,
economic life and institutions of Pakistan.
