Message for the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Kashmir Black Day (27th October, 2019)

London:  I do not need to remind my Kashmiri and Muslim brothers and sisters how this Black day is unlike any other. On 27 October, 1947, India illegally occupied Jammu & Kashmir and on 5th August, 2019 it tried to legitimize that illegal occupation. Pakistan, the Kashmiris and the Muslim Ummah have categorically rejected this blatant travesty of law and justice.

Since 5 August 2019, the scale and impunity of the Indian government's human rights violations have increased manifold. Through the deployment of more troops and an unprecedented media and communication black out that has now been ongoing for almost three months, Indian occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IOJ&K) has been turned into the largest open air prison in the world. There is a shortage of essential food and medicine. Thousands have been illegally incarcerated while tens of thousands of young boys have been arrested and shifted to undisclosed locations. For the first time, the entire world is calling India out on its tyranny; its facade as the world's largest democracy has been irreparably exposed.

Pakistan demands the immediate revocation of India's illegal actions of August 5th as well as the urgent lifting of the curfew and media blackout. We urge the International community to play its role in putting pressure on India to reverse its illegal steps and restore the Kashmiris' fundamental human rights. No single party to the dispute has the right to unilaterally take any step that can alter the existing status of Jammu and Kashmir.

We express complete solidarity with the People of Jammu and Kashmir and assure our Kashmiri brothers and sisters that the Government and People of Pakistan stand shoulder to shoulder with them in this time of need. Pakistan will not relent in its political, moral, and diplomatic support until the Kashmiris realize their legitimate right to self-determination in accordance with the United Nations Security Council resolutions.
