Applying for New or Renewal of Machine Readable Passport

Machine Readable Passport (MRP) system uses the data from National Database and Registration Authority’s (NADRA) system and MRP application can only be processed if applicant has one of the following valid original documents issued by NADRA:

  1. Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC)
  2. National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP)
  3. Smart National ID Card
  4. Computerized Child Registration Certificate (CRC/Form B) for under 18 years applicants only

Machine Readable Passport (MRP) application processing requirements are different for adults and children. Please go through the relevant section carefully before visiting the High Commission or Bradford Consulate for processing of your MRP application as all documents listed under each category are mandatory and our staff will not be able to process your application if the requirements are not fully met.

 

Requirements for Adults' (18 years and above) application processing

  1. Personal appearance of the applicant
  2. Production of one of the following original valid NADRA Cards along with its photocopy:
    1. Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC)
    2. National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP)
    3. Smart National ID Card
  3. Original previous Passport with its photocopy (for renewal applications)

Notes:

  1. Married female applicants are required to produce original CNIC / NICOP / Smart National ID Card containing their husband’s name. They would otherwise be required to get their CNIC / NICOP / Smart National ID Card modified in accordance with their marital status before applying for MRP.
  2. Pakistan Government employees are required to produce original No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued with in last ninety (90) days by their respective Ministries / Divisions / Departments.
  3. The dual nationals, while applying for first ever Pakistani passport will be required to be verified by the concerned agencies in Pakistan. The dual nationals are however advised to bring photocopies of their Pakistani parents CNICs / NICOPs.

 

Requirements for Children (below 18 years) application processing

  1. Personal appearance of the applicant
  2. Applicants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by either one of the parents
  3. Production of one of the following original valid documents along with its photocopy:
    1. National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP)
    2. Computerized Child Registration Certificate (CRC/Form B) issued by NADRA
  4. Previous Original Passport with its copy (for renewal applications)
  5. Both Parents Pakistani Passports, ID Cards, British Passports with photocopies
  6. Detailed birth certificate containing both parents' names on it and its copy

Note:

In case parents are separated or divorced, the custodian father or mother is required to produce court orders confirming his/her legal right of custody of the child.

 

Additional requirement for Dual Nationals

Dual Nationals are required to bring a photocopy of their British passport or other nationality passport along with all other required documents.

 

Manual hand written passports to phase out by November 2015


According to International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), Manual / Hand written passport (Non-MRP) will phase out with effect from 25th November, 2015. Foreign governments may deny visa or entry to persons travelling on manual passports after November 24, 2015.
